Mental Health &

Learning Disabilities

A one day course on Dual Diagnosis

Dual Diagnosis is a term that is used in many different areas, however in the field we work in we are specifically discussing people who have a Learning Disability and who may experience Mental Health issues.

For staff to be able to effectively support people who have a learning disability and who are also experiencing mental health problems

  • to understand the common features of the main types of mental illness
  • to understand effects of the main types of mental illness on the individual and their quality of life
  • to understand the possible differences in the way mental illness may present in people who already have a learning disability
  • to learn practical approaches to support people during episodes of mental illness

This workshop is interspersed with exercises, video, presentation and discussion.
