Attitude is like a wrist watch - every watch may show different time than others but everyone thinks that their watch is showing the right time.

D.ESCAL8TM (pronounced de-escalate) was formed after nearly 20 years of consulting for a major training organisation. Between 1994 and 2013 Director Des Cooke rose to the position of lead trainer and senior behavioural management consultant.

From 2013 - Present D.ESCAL8TM have gone from strength to strength providing training and consultancy that is different to the competition, don't take our word for it - please see the testimonials from many people who have previous physical intervention training.

I have just completed the 3 day D.ESCAL8 course. I am a BCBA who currently works both in the U.K. and abroad. I cannot recommend this course highly enough. For me, this course provided the missing piece of the puzzle. I would encourage all ABA practitioners, and indeed all others involved in the care or education system in general, to attend this course. It encompasses the ABA approach whilst providing valuable crisis management techniques.

Des as a trainer is engaging, knowledgable and compelling. He challenges preconceived ideas and provokes mind set change with astounding efficiency. I have attended other “physical intervention” courses in the past. D.ESCAL8 provides an alternative so far superior you will wonder why it isn’t the only option.

It really was one of the best training courses I have ever attended! Des was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and responsive to the group and business needs. The biggest part for me was the ethos that came across throughout the course- moving into the social model of care, it is vital that staff attitude is genuinely person centred and considers their own conceptions about behaviour. De-escal8 captured this brilliantly and has improved my understanding of my own emotion and behaviours so that I can truly support individuals who display signs of distress. It was extremely refreshing to have the psychological and physical impact of working with people packaged together. It made a huge impact on the way I understand the need for emotional and physical intervention. If you are looking for a thorough training needs analysis, delivery of a course that is bespoke, training that enriches service delivery, builds confidence in staff and moves towards the social model of care I would highly recommend this training.

why set up DESCAL8TM?

It is common to hear staff state that low arousal does not work, or does not go far enough, usually said in relation to a person they are caring for; this is usually far from true and commonly is about staff perception around the concept of success this is a blog post on success.

However, this is how staff feel which is important to incorporate. D.ESCAL8 TM was formed to incorporate and expand past the simplicity, and perceived inadequacy, of concepts such as low arousal.

Many thanks are necessary to a number of people who provide ongoing support, advice and mentoring to DESCAL8 TM from its idea to its formation and beyond. These people include trainers, nurses, managers, clinical psychologists and a couple of CEO's. This gives D.ESCAL8 TM a multidisciplinary support structure unparalleled in a small dynamic company
